Once I go to a chiropractor, will I always have to go?

This is a common misbelief with chiropractic care. Most people learn to understand when they need to be adjusted again, because they recognize when things have shifted out of place.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Normally you will feel pressure and a slight pinch or discomfort with different types of adjustments, but the adjustment is usually well tolerated.

Can chiropractic cure everything?

No, we assist the body to heal itself—we don’t cure anything. Most often with this type of care, many people feel a reduction in the intensity and severity of their symptoms.

Why would I have my newborn or young child adjusted?

The birthing process can be very traumatic on a newborn and can cause misalignments in the spine, which can cause developmental symptoms, colic, irritability and sleep issues.

Can chiropractic help with colic and how?

Typically children improve with chiropractic care for colic because the nervous system works more efficiently. You tend to see digestive issues and irritability/sleeping issues improve relatively quickly (i.e. 3-4 weeks).

Does insurance cover chiropractic visits?

Most insurance companies cover chiropractic care, and we are a provider for most insurance groups. There may be exceptions to coverage, including some HMOs and Medicaid coverage. Please call the office for further information.

How much does it cost?

The cost of coverage is based on your insurance coverage. Your individual/group plan can provide you with this information.

Do I need a referral from my physician?

No, you can call a chiropractor for care, but your insurance coverage may require prior authorization, or with HMO plans, some may require a referral.

Do you work with medical doctors?

Yes, we have developed a large network of doctors and diagnostic centers to facilitate the care for our patients.

Will I get adjusted on my first visit?

Most likely, but it depends on your condition and if your condition is addressed with chiropractic care.

Will you suggest exercises or other things I can do?

Absolutely! One of our goals is to facilitate you back to health and allow your care to be comprehensive and effective.

Can someone who has had back surgery see a chiropractor?

In most cases YES! Problems with muscles and soft tissue after spinal surgery can be addressed conservatively and effectively to help eliminate spasms and pain and facilitate a return to function.
